I think there is a packaging error in the Windows Update site for KB Microsoft should fix this to benefit others - a manual install should not be necessary! Windows Update selected KB as applicable, system tray icon "balloon message" indicating ready for install.
Windows Update reported KB as failed during install. Steps repeated with no automatic resolution. Windows Update is broken.
