I have just recently found out that I can no longer go to the marketplace on my device. It doesn't even show that my wireless is on. Now it seems that my Zune is forgetting my album covers and it freezes up ocassionally and I have to restart it. Can someone help? I have had my question up her for a week and still haven't got an answer. At this point I may have to because this is absolutely ridiculous.
Reinstalling the software didn't work and I'd really rather not reset it completely. It is very possible that the Firmware Zune Device OS has become corrupted - I would be willing to bet that one of the first things they are going to ask you to do is follow these instructions : " How to Reboot, Reformat, and Restore your Zune device Now Includes Zune HD " You can follow these instructions.
To enter Recovery mode — Press and hold the power and media buttons for 15 seconds. The device reboots into Recovery mode content is not erased, allows for firmware reinstall.
You are required to update to a more recent version of the firmware in order to sync new media to your device. This means that unless you want to use the included media forever you must perform the update. Unfortunately, my device would not successfully update from the firware. After multiple tries, restarts, firmware restorations, etc.
After installing the Zune software I was told that my Zune firmware that needed to be updated to 1. I clicked next once it found the device and watched as it updated the firmware. Then two things happened:. The Zune software would sit there supposedly still updating until finally saying that it had failed and that I should try again later.
It would continuously restart itself alternating between the Zune logo and this screen. This occured despite the fact that the zune was connected to the computer via the USB cable. I tried to solve this problem by disconnecting and reconnecting the Zune, closing and restarting the Zune software and also restarting the computer. The Zune would no longer be recognized by my PC and I could no longer view the pre-loaded content or any of the functional menus.
The firmware restoration only got me back to the point of the computer seeing the device again, but when it came to try and update the firmware the process above would repeat. Please wait. Check to make sure the hold switch is off before you get too worried. With the hold switch activated, none of the buttons will register with the Zune, and it will appear dead. If you aren't sure which way is off, switch it both ways and try turning on your Zune. Sometimes when you don't use your Zune for a long time, the battery can drain on its own. Try plugging the Zune in to your computer or an AC adapter. If it comes on and starts charging, you're done. If not, you may need to replace your battery.
If the display is pixelated or cracked, or if you can get music to play with a blank screen, the display is bad and needs to be replaced. If nothing happens at all when you power on and plug in your Zune, the problem is most likely the logic board. A guide to replace this is available here. It is also possible that the button pad is bad, or its cable to the logic board is disconnected, preventing the power button from doing anything.
If the Zune powers on when plugged into a computer or AC adapter, but the buttons do not work and the hold is disengaged , it is possible that the button pad is defective or disconnected.
